We are firm believers in world evangelism through missionary outreach. It was the New Testament example of Paul, of Philip, and of countless saints, martyrs, and just simple Christians down through the ages that emphasize the urgency of reaching around the world with the Word of salvation. It reaches any culture, because the human need for deliverance is universal.
We support our missionaries, now in over 102 foreign countries as well as in numerous home mission districts throughout North America, through our giving to the World Evangelism Fund. We support construction of mission churches, homes and schools through our Alabaster offerings. We support special needs on fields around the globe through Nazarene Compassionate Missions -- we are currently almost halfway to underwriting wells and water systems for two Lahu villages in northwestern Thailand.
We support individual missionaries through our LINKS program: Loving and Interested Nazarene, Knowing and Sharing. We support local mission efforts, such as the Open Door Mission, with regular preaching and music support.
We also encourage our young people to consider prayerfully the mission field themselves. We have had young people on special mission trips, while preparing for full-time service. Of course, we are all surrounded by a mission field that calls for our full-time commitment.
Perhaps most importantly, we urge our people to remember our missionaries in prayer -- holding them up to the throne for special touches of His grace and protection.
